Review on Needle Insertion Haptic Simulation

This short review updates an exhaustive one written by Correa et al. in 2019 about haptic training simulation on needle insertion the medical field. Latest works refine well-known models and enhance setups methods to facilitate generically getting experimental data. We provide a complementary focus device specifications recent render this specific feedback computer-based simulators. Assessment approaches issues encountered when introducing such simulators into curricula are also discussed. FEM-based still do not permit real-time computation but hybrid as proposed Wittek 2020 may become good compromise. Nonetheless, psychophysical studies should be performed determine fidelity of various found literature, embed them efficiently curricula. would delay necessary final hands-on patients that raises ethical issues.
